This port has been produced by Rozès’ winemaker Manuel Henrique and consultant Wouter Pienaar. The grapes for the port (Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca og Sousão) come from the best parcels at Quinta do Pégo and all the grapes are from vines being from 30 to over 100 years old.
It is a wonderful Vintage Port of the very best quality representing vast character, exuberance and great potential for ageing.
Thanks to the perfect weather conditions, Vintage 2017 has obtained a perfect balance combining “rusticity and power” with “elegance and delicacy”. It has a full red black colour, delicate and intense aromas of black fruits and raisins as well as balsamic notes. This wine presents good structure, great volume in mouth and good acidity with pronounced and silky tannins followed by a nice, long and very persistent finish.
This port ought to be served chilled and is perfect as an ”after-dinner-drink” or together with strong cheese, chocolate and desserts, but it is also perfect on its own. As young and powerful it is also perfect for a good pepper steak.
It is said that Vintage Port is drinkable after 4-5 years, but only really enjoyable after 15-20 years. This Vintage Port can easily be enjoyed young, but will also develop positively for many years to come. This Vintage Port 2017 should be enjoyed now or kept for 20-30-40-50+ years.
