Quinta do Pégo Special Edition LBV 2018 is a very special LBV port made by carefully selecting only the very best red grapes from only the very best parcels of Quinta do Pégo. The main red varieties are Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão and Sousão.
Despite great quality and good potential, in 2018 Quinta do Pégo preferred only to declare LBV, and by prolonging the maturation time before bottling to about 4½ years, it has given more consistency and maturity to this Special Edition LBV.
The final result is this Quinta do Pégo Special Edition LBV 2018 of extremely high quality. It has a lovely red colour, great intensity, floral notes and balsamic aromas. The taste is superb, elegant, fresh, sophisticated and very full-bodied with perfect structure, silky tannins and good acidity followed by an appealing, intense and persistent finish.
This Quinta do Pégo Special Edition LBV 2018 shows great personality, delicacy, elegance and great potential to evolve in the bottle, but at the same time it is ready to drink now. If you wait some years, please remember that decanting is necessary in order to avoid the natural depôt which arises because the wine is unfiltered. That is one of the reasons why it is possible to obtain this extremely high quality.
This special LBV port is perfect as an “after-dinner-drink”, but you can also enjoy Quinta do Pégo Special Edition LBV 2018 with almost all kinds of cheese, chocolate and candied fruit. Serve it slightly chilled or at temperature between 7ºC and 13ºC.
