This Colheita port has been produced by Rozès’ winemaker Manuel Henrique and consultant Wouter Pienaar. The grapes for the port (Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Sousão, Tinto Cão and Tinta Roriz) come from the old vines, which were on the quinta’s vineyards, when the present owners took over the quinta.
The treading of the grapes has taken place in the traditional lagars and the wine has been aged in 600 litres oak casks for about 8 years.
Quinta do Pégo Colheita 2011 is a fine and elegant wine of excellent quality with deep amber/ruby colour. It is a full-bodied and very fruity port with high elegance of taste, where the balance between youth and maturity is perfect.
This Colheita shows very nice texture, soft tannins and great harmony between concentrated fruit and balsamic notes, vanilla, caramel and spices. In the mouth, the wine is full and creamy presenting elegant and very persistent finish.
Prolonging what mother nature has been able to produce, this elegant wine has matured for about 8 years in 600 litres French oak casks.
It is a wine of great potential, reflecting the year 2011. The personality of this wine provides all the essential features for a wine of endless longevity.
This Colheita port ought to be served chilled and is perfect as an ”after-dinner-drink” or together with strong cheese, chocolate and desserts, but it is also perfect on its own.
