Quinta do Pégo 2020 Vintage Port is the result of a careful selection of wines from the 2020 harvest. Grown at Quinta do Pégo’s A-classified land, situated on the left bank of the Douro River in the Douro Valley, it is produced from the main red grape varieties: Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional, Sousão and Tinta Roriz.
It offers a concentrated deep red colour and the nose presents a great aromatic complexity with attractive and elegant fruit joined with spices and fresh notes of the woods.
In the mouth it is rich, intense, concentrated and structured while its tannins are robust and in good balance with the generosity of the fruit flavours. This wine presents subtlety, great volume in mouth, good acidity and an elegant and long finish.
Quinta do Pégo 2020 Vintage Port represents vast character, exuberance, remarkable persistence and great potential for ageing.
This port ought to be served chilled and is perfect as an ”after-dinner-drink” or together with strong cheese, chocolate and desserts, but it is also perfect on its own. As young and powerful it is also perfect for a good pepper steak.
It is said that Vintage Port is drinkable after 4-5 years, but only really enjoyable after 15-20 years. This Vintage Port can easily be enjoyed young, but will also develop positively for many years to come. This Vintage Port 2020 should be enjoyed now or kept for 20-30-40-50+ years.
