This classic Douro red wine represents the passion, dedication and intimate knowledge of the vineyard and winemaking team that honour the winemaking history of Quinta do Pégo, which according to historical documents can be dated back to 1548. Being bottled in 2023, this beautiful 475 Anniversary Edition celebrates and honours the proud winemaking history of Quinta do Pégo.
It is a vegan friendly red wine, blended of old block Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Sousão. The grapes were fermented in traditional granite ‘lagares’, trampled by foot, blended and aged in 1st and 2nd fill French oak for 18 months.
This wine is delicious and has a nice red colour and aromas of violets, blue berries and vanilla on the nose. The palate is intense with layers of black currant and red figs followed by a textured mineral, graphite and cedar oak finish. A powerful wine with elegant silky tannins to assure many years of ageing in the bottle.
This harmonious and well-structured wine is suitable for beef, veal, red meat, game and cheese.
This is indeed an extraordinairy red wine, which is ready to be enjoyed now, but it will also improve with bottle ageing and has a good maturation potential.
