Quinta do Pégo Grande Reserva 2011 is the result of a careful selection of wines of the 2011 harvest. The wine is produced by winemaker Wouter Pienaar. The grapes for this elegant red wine is grown at Quinta do Pégo, situated on the left bank of the Douro river in the Douro valley in Portugal.
This wine is produced from Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Sousão and Tinto Cão grapes.
This elegant wine has been matured in French oak casks for approximately 12 months. Afterwards the wine has been matured in the bottle before release.
This wine has an intense ruby colour, layers of rich fruit and berries such as blackberries, cherries and pepper. The oak is already well-integrated and combined with a strong tannin structure will ensure good maturation potential and freshness.
This unique and well structured wine is especially suitable with red meats, game and cheese.
This is indeed an extraordinairy red wine, which will improve with bottle ageing and has a good maturation potential.
As the wine is only lightly filtered, depôt might occur and therefore decanting is recommended.
