This Colheita port has been produced by Rozès’ winemaker Manuel Henrique and consultant Wouter Pienaar. The grapes for the port (Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cão) come from the old vines, which were on the quinta’s vineyards, when the present owners took over the quinta.
The treading of the grapes has taken place in the traditional lagars and the wine has been aged in oak casks for at least 7 years.
Quinta do Pégo Colheita 2007 is a fine and elegant wine of excellent quality with golden brown colour, fresh nose, powerful, with great elegance of flavours and notes of dried fruit and caramel. The wine has a delicate spicy character, velvety tannins, good structure and silky and very long finish.
Prolonging what mother nature has been able to produce, this elegant wine has matured for 8 years in oak casks.
The personality of this wine provides all the essential features for a wine of endless longevity.
This Colheita port ought to be served chilled and is perfect as an ”after-dinner-drink” or together with strong cheese, chocolate and desserts, but it is also perfect on its own.
