Porto Colheita 2003

This Colheita port has been produced by Rozès’ winemaker Manuel Henrique and consultant Wouter Pienaar. The grapes for the port (Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca) come from the old vines, which were on the quinta's vineyards, when the present owners took over the quinta.

The treading of the grapes has taken place in the traditional lagars and the wine has been aged in oak casks for at least 7 years.

It is a wonderful Colheita port of the finest quality. It has a deep intense red colour, fresh and intense bouquet of black fruits with refined notes of vanilla and liquorice. It is both intense and full-bodied, but also extremely elegant and delicate with notes of dried fruits and spices. The tannins which give texture and depth to the wine are silky and pleasantly felt - and showing a bright future.

This Colheita port ought to be served chilled and is perfect as an ”after-dinner-drink” or together with strong cheese, chocolate and desserts, but it is also perfect on its own.
